This Lehigh Valley boxcar was built in the late 1960s and was shopped later in life by Conrail, before being retired in the late 1980s. The Lehigh Valley Railroad was founded in 1846 and headquartered in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. It was known for shipping anthracite coal from Pennsylvania mines, but also carried general freight. It operated until 1976 when it was absorbed by the Conrail merger. Much of the remaining trackage is owned by Norfolk Southern, today.
