Built by the Ortner Freight Car Company (now Trinity Industries) in the late 1990s, this FEC Rapid Discharge hopper has a 286,000-pound capacity. The Rapid Discharge design self-clears the load within 30 seconds and is often used to carry heavy aggregate, iron ore, and limestone in unit trains.
