Built in the mid-1970s, this ATSF covered hopper has a capacity of 4600 cubic feet, and carries the ATSF “Q” logo. This marking indicates the ATSF “Managing Total Quality” program which existed from the 1980s until just prior to the merger. Founded in 1859, Santa Fe was one of the largest railroads in North America up until 1996, when it merged with Burlington Northern to form BNSF.
